India's most strategic all-weather road in Uttarakhand washed away
The all-weather road built between Rishikesh Badrinath got washed away due to heavy rains on Wednesday. Also, there are reports of road damage in many places. In such a situation, questions are being raised if this road cannot withstand the monsoon rains, then how can it be called all weather?
Dream Project of PM Modi
To facilitate the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand, a 4-lane all-weather road was built by the Modi government. It was one of the dream projects of PM Modi. When the issue of environmental hazards from this road came to the fore, the Char Dham Yatra Road was described as very important for India from a strategic point of view.
When the environmental fight reached the issue of safety in the Supreme Court, approval was given to build the road. Now, this all-weather strategic road has been washed away in the very first rain. Think, when the country will face trouble from China, then how will this broken road take the army to the border?
All weather road that cannot withstand Heavy Rains
It rained in many parts of Uttarakhand on Wednesday. RCC wall collapsed near Pursadi on Rishikesh-Badrinath All Weather Road, due to which the entire highway was closed. Rishikesh Badrinath Road has been damaged in many places due to heavy rains and the entire road has been washed away in many places. Due to this questions are being raised on the quality of the road and its investigation is being demanded.
It is being told that there is a possibility of an accident on the side of the road. It is being said that if it continues to rain like this, the bridge connecting Chamoli on the road going from Pursari to Badrinath may also be washed away. People are risking their lives.
Local people are demanding an inquiry into the bad quality work done in the road construction, but officials say that it is not a quality defect, it is a natural disaster. So the question here is, why then was publicized it as an all-weather road when it cannot withstand the landslides and heavy rain.
When there was talk of widening this road, environmentalists had already warned of many types of accidents. There are many such rocks hanging on this road that had to be removed before the onset of the monsoon. Due to the widening of the road, the mountains have become quite fragile, due to which cases of road damage come to the fore.
