Shahrukh starrer Jawan’s music is mediocre at best, did Anirudh disappoint?
Shahrukh-Nayanthara-Vijay Sethupathi, possibly one of the biggest movies of the year Jawan, is just a week away. The film hits the theatres on 7th September 2023. But, instead of dropping the trailer, the Red Chillies team is dropping one song after another. The latest being ‘Not Ramaiya Vaistaya’. Should we accept that the drop in the song is quite similar to “Shot Me Down" by David Guetta ft. Skylar Grey.
After the initial BGM of the film, fans couldn’t wait for the entire score. Particularly me. I still listen to Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Vikram’s BGM, composed by Anirudh himself. The 32-year-old musician has made a name of himself with some great music in the Tamil-film particularly. His recent music for Rajnikanth’s Jailer was widely praised. Hukum still tops the charts. But, the music of this Shahrukh starrer is fairly disappointing.
But, the three songs in the playlist right now are:
- "Zinda Banda, penned by Irshad Kamil, and sung by Anirudh Ravichander,
- "Chaleya", lyrics by Kumaar, sung by Arijit Singh, Shilpa Rao
- "Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya", lyrics by Kumaar, sung by Anirudh Ravichander, Vishal Dadlani, Shilpa Rao
Zinda Banda doesn’t work with Anirudh’s vocals in Hindi. But, somehow Tamil version works so much better. Chaleya is a decent song, but falls nowhere close to other SRK romantic numbers even Besharam Rang from Pathaan. "Not Ramaiya Vastavaiya", is alright. Anirudh has given better party songs than this. Just listen to Leo's theme and Sanjay Dutt's introduction video.
I was particularly very excited for Raja Kumari’s SRK song. But, where is it? Maybe, today at the Audio launch we might listen to the song.
Audio launch, and more
Jawan team is ready for the audio launch in Chennai today i.e. 30th August. Followed by the trailer launch on 31st August 2023. To some, it might feel too late for the trailer, but the Prevue created crazy hype for the film. As per reports, the film is already witnessing some tremendous advance booking numbers overseas.
If you ask me, Red Chillies’ VFX may have been slightly short on time. That was why the film was shifted to another release day. The film looks damn VFX-heavy. If we are well-versed in Atlee’s cinema, he has the habit of over-doing VFX. That was the case at least with Vijay starrer Bigil.
If some Atlee non-fans are believed, the trailers of his films are very interesting but eventually, they tend to disappoint. I am keeping my fingers crossed because I am keen to see SRK in a full-on action avatar. To be honest, YRF’s Pathaan was a bit disappointing.
