Karnataka Lingayat mutt sex scandal, What happened so far

The Karnataka Police has made serious allegations in the charge sheet filed against Lingayat seer Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru, one of the most powerful pontiffs of the Lingayat community.

The Karnataka Police has arrested the mother of two girls who were victims of sexual violence for conspiring against the abbot.

An audio clip that went viral on social media has been cited as the basis for this arrest. A few days ago a clip went viral on social media. It is being claimed that in this audio clip there is a conversation between the mother of the victims and the NGO.

Chitradurga SP (Rural) K Parashuram has told that the arrested woman used to work as a cook in the Math and against her along with Basava Rajendra, a teacher teaching in the Math’s high school and Mysuru’s NGO Odanandi to implicate the abbot. Alleged conspiracy.

According to the charge sheet, Sharanaru raped a 13-year-old girl several times between 2013 and 2015.

The woman’s statement has been included in the chargesheet, according to which when the victim was only 13 years old, she used to stay in the hostel of the monastery and the abbot used to call her to his room every night and send her back to the hostel at 4.30 am or 5 am.

The victim has told that ‘In the year 2012, my mother died due to illness. I was studying in the seventh standard at that time. After this my father got me admitted to Priyadarshini High School in Muruga Math. I was staying in Akka Mahadevi Hostel.

The names of hostel warden Rashmi, Basavaraditya and hostel head Param Shivayya have also been included in this charge sheet.

The victim has told in the chargesheet that Shruti and Apoorva were wardens when she went to stay in the hostel and everything was fine but problems started after Rashmi became warden in the year 2013-14.

The victim said, “Rashmi used to ask me to bring fruits to the abbot’s room after 9 pm. I went to the Abbot thrice with another girl. After some time the other girl stopped going. I used to go to his room through the back door after dinner and everyone was asleep.

He used to give me dry fruits and chocolates. He used to ask if anyone had seen me coming to his room. After that, he used to remove my clothes. And then used to take off his clothes too. And he used to make me sit on his lap and have sex with me by touching my private parts.
