A police complaint was filed against Sandeep Lamichhane, captain of the Nepalese cricket team. A complaint has been filed against him for raping a minor under 17 years of age.

According to a report on, the police issued a statement saying that a police team jointly deployed from the District Police Complex, Kathmandu and the Police Circle, Gaushala, is conducting a detailed investigation into Lamichhane.


According to the police, a 17-year-old girl filed a case alleging that Lamichhane took her to various places in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur all day on August 21 and took her to a hotel in Kathmandu’s Sinamangal where she was raped that same night.

A police complaint was filed against Lamichhane on Tuesday. Police also began collecting CCTV footage from the two hotels where Lamichhane, accused of raping a 17-year-old girl, had stayed with the girl.


The teenager said that she was a fan of the leg-twirling star and used to talk to him through WhatsApp and Snapchat. She says that it was Lamichhane who first proposed a meeting. As reported to the police, on the eve of the Nepalese cricket team’s departure from Kenya on September 22, Sandeep Lamichhane asked her to go on a trip to Bhaktapur, and the younger girl agreed.

As the hostel closed at 8 p.m. m., the minor was forced to spend a night with the 25-year-old superstar at a hotel in Kathmandu’s Pingalasthan, according to the complaint. Lamichchane is alleged to have drugged and raped her twice.


The 22-year-old leggie participated in a couple of seasons in IPL in 2018 and 2019 supposedly. Lamichchane collected 13 wickets in 9 IPL matches. He has participated in several T20 franchise leagues over the years, claiming 193 wickets from 136 T20 games at a phenomenal 17.76 average.

In T20I cricket, Lamichchane has an even better record for Nepal, claiming 85 wickets from 44 matches while averaging just 12.4.
