This January is the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. The Forum returns this 2023 to the Swiss Alps under the motto ‘Cooperation in a fragmented world’ to address some of the biggest global challenges.

What is Davos World Economic Forum 2023?

The World Economic Forum is an international non-governmental organization based in Cologne, Geneva, Switzerland, which meets annually in Davos to discuss the most pressing issues facing the world. According to the WEF portal, the Davos 2023 Forum seeks to ‘promote solutions with a vision of the future and address the most pressing global challenges through public-private cooperation.’


Who attends the Davos Forum 2023?

This year, the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum will take place from January 16 to 20. This event will bring together some 2,500 heads of state and government, corporate CEOs, civil society representatives, global media, and youth leaders from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and North America.

According to the official website of the Forum, participation in the Annual Meeting is by invitation to the following communities:


  • The CEOs and presidents of the Forum’s 1,000 partner companies, such as the International Business Council, the Community of Industry Presidents and Governors.
  • Public figures from around the world, including the G7 and G20 countries, as well as the heads of international organizations.
  • Leaders of major civil society organizations, unions and the media, as well as leading thinkers and academics.
  • Members of the Global Innovators and Technology Pioneers community, Community of Global Shapers, Forum of Young Global Leaders and Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship.

Topics to be addressed at the Davos Forum 2023

According to the official program, the following topics will be addressed:

  • The Current Energy and Food Crises in the Context of a New Energy, Climate and Nature System.
  • Today’s high inflation, low growth, and the high-debt economy are in the context of a new system of investment, trade, and infrastructure.
  • Current industry hurdles in the context of a new system for leveraging cutting-edge technologies for private sector innovation and resilience.
  • Current social vulnerabilities in the context of a new system of work, skills and care.
  • Current geopolitical risks in the context of a new system of dialogue and cooperation in a multipolar world.
