Actor Noah Schnapp, who plays Will in the hit Netflix series ‘Stranger Things,’ revealed to his followers Thursday that he is gay. Noah, 18, declared he was gay in a video posted on his TikTok account that instantly went viral.
‘I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being closet scared for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know,” he wrote at the bottom of the video where he looked relaxed, smiling, wearing a hoodie and lying on a bed or sofa.
The 18-year-old actor released the news with a touch of humour because on TikTok he can be seen lip-syncing the famous audio ‘Do you know what never was? I laughed. It was never serious. Frankly, it will never be serious”, while in the clip he wrote, “When I finally told my friends and family that I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know’”.
In mid-July 2022, the actor confirmed through an interview for Variety that his character in Stranger Things is gay, although he has never expressed it openly.
“It was obviously hinted at in season one. She was always there, but it was never really known. Is it just that he grows slower than his friends? Now that he’s grown up, they made it very real and obvious. It is now 100% clear that he is gay and that he wants Mike. But before, it was a slow plot. I think it’s very well done because it’s very easy to make a character suddenly gay,’ he said.
