Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, popularly known as Bageshwar Dham Sarkar, head of Bageshwar Dham temple in Madhya Pradesh, is in the news after he was invited to display his miraculous abilities at an event in Maharashtra.

The 26-year-old self-proclaimed god-man made headlines after he was invited to showcase his miraculous abilities at an event in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Shyam Manav of the Maharashtrian organization Andh Shraddha Nirmulan Samiti has accused Dhirendra Shastri of spreading superstition. He allegedly challenged Dhirendra Krishna Shastri.

Shyam Manav had announced a reward of Rs 30 lakhs to Dhirendra Krishna Shastri for showing miracles during the Darbaar. Later, he also filed an FIR against Shastri.

Reports said that he allegedly ‘fled’ to Madhya Pradesh instead of showing up at the event. And since then self-proclaimed Bageshwar Sarkar is trending on social media platforms and his videos have also gone viral on Twitter. He reportedly fled from Ramkatha in Nagpur when the anti-superstition committee challenged him.

Who is Shyam Manav?

Dhirendra Krishna Shastri was recently attacked by Shyam Manav, founder of ‘Akhil Bharatiya Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti’ – ABANS. The website claims the organization is the oldest and largest anti-superstition movement in the country.

Shyam Manav was born on 9th September 1951 at Devali in the Wardha district of Maharashtra. His father Dnyandev was a farmer and social worker who worked with Vinoba Bhave, a renowned Gandhian.

He even worked as Vinoba’s personal assistant for an extended period. Shyam Manav’s mother, Kamal, worked as a Montessori teacher. He is the eldest of his siblings and has one brother and two sisters.

The 26-year-old baba created more headlines after he said anyone who spoke out against Sanatan Dharma would be boycotted. He also claims to be the torchbearer of the ‘Ghar wapsi’ movement.

“We are making Hindus return to the religion they were born with. Some people are creating a nuisance. You have to teach them a lesson. As long as I am alive, I will make all the Sanatani Hindus return to their original faith,” he said.
