Who was Ukrainian commander Dmytro Kotsyubaylo?

Dmytro Kotsiubailo was born on November 1, 1995, in the village of Zadnistrianske, which is now part of the Burshtyn community in the Ivano-Frankivsk Raion of the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast in Ukraine.

After completing his education at Bovshivka secondary school and the Ivano-Frankivsk art high school, Dmytro became an active participant in the Dignity Revolution, a series of protests in Ukraine calling for democratic reform and the end of corruption.

Kotsyubailo was a well-known Ukrainian volunteer who took part in the Revolution of Dignity in 2014 and continued to defend Ukraine since then. Despite being only 18 years old at the time, he became the commander of a platoon of volunteers and later a company.

He was seriously injured in Pisky, Donetsk Oblast, that same year but recovered and returned to the front lines.

Dmytro’s bravery and dedication to his country did not go unnoticed, and on March 17, 2016, he was appointed commander of the 1st Mechanized Battalion ‘Da Vinci Wolves’ in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He led his unit with courage and skill, inspiring his fellow soldiers to fight for their country’s freedom.
