world war 3 fears as russia warns of ‘universal nuclear war’

Ground Report | New Delhi: Russia nuclear war; Russian state television has issued a chilling nuclear threat to the West if NATO sends peacekeepers to Ukraine, saying World War III could be just around the corner. The terrifying threats came as state television tightly controlled by President Vladimir Putin went into overdrive on Wednesday, warning NATO not to send any kind of peacekeeping force.

The chilling surge in rhetoric was sparked by a series of claims by propaganda spokesmen alleging that Poland will seek a NATO mandate to send peacekeepers to Ukraine at an extraordinary summit on Thursday.

The rise in rhetoric saw blunt and undisguised warnings from Kremlin spokesmen on state television, concerned that Poland would seek a NATO mandate for peacekeepers. They also claimed that Poland would seek to grab land to reclaim Ukrainian territory that was once part of Poland, such as the city of Lviv, Mirror Online reports.

TV presenter Vyacheslav Nikonov claimed that Russian truckers stuck at the border had seen “a build-up of American and Polish troops. ‘As for me, Poland strives not only to fulfill a peacekeeping mission, but to delimit the territories that it considers to belong to it historically.’

On the channel, military expert Colonel Yury Knutov repeated the same line, stating that “if there are any sane people left in NATO, they will not approve [a peacekeeping operation] [in Ukraine]”. ‘Why? Because a decision by NATO as a whole would amount to a de facto declaration of war on Russia.

‘Like it or not, we will have to use tactical nuclear weapons in theater to win this war.’ He stated that this would require the ‘use of powerful strategic nuclear weapons’, which he claimed would result in ‘universal nuclear war’.

While Olga Skabeyeva, host of state-owned Rossiya 1’s 60 Minutes, said the NATO incursion into Ukraine is ‘not worth explaining.’ ‘This is known as World War III,’ she added.

Tensions soared after NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg declared that Russia ‘can never win a nuclear war’ and that Moscow must end its ‘dangerous and irresponsible nuclear rhetoric.’

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday ahead of today’s extraordinary NATO summit, Stoltenberg pledged to strengthen NATO’s presence in Poland following the unfolding horror in Ukraine. ‘I hope the leaders agree to strengthen NATO’s posture in all domains, with significant increases in the eastern part of the alliance on land, air and sea,’ he said.
