Lucknow-Rameswaram train catches fire, 9 passengers killed, over 20 injured

The coach was carrying 65 passengers from Lucknow and was meant to resume the journey to Chennai via the Kollam-Chennai-Egmore Ananthapuri Express

At 5:15 am, a fire started due to an illegally smuggled gas cylinder.

Indian Railways allows anyone to book a party coach through the IRCTC portal, but carrying inflammable materials is illegal.
